Classical V-belts (Z/A/B/C/D) have a wider cross-section and are suitable for general-purpose applications. Narrow V-belts (3V/5V/8V) have a narrower cross-section but deeper design, offering higher power transmission capacity in a more compact space. Narrow belts are preferred for new designs and space-constrained applications.
Anti-static V-belts are required in environments with explosive atmospheres (mines, grain elevators, chemical plants) or where dust accumulation could cause static discharge. They contain carbon black to dissipate static electricity safely.
When using multiple V-belts, all belts must be from the same manufacturer, same profile, and ideally same production batch. Replace all belts simultaneously, not just the failed one. Use a belt tension gauge to ensure uniform tension across all belts.
